Andrew Yang’s proposed Freedom Dividend is to be paid to all U.S. citizens over the age of 18 regardless of income or employment status. Above a certain income level a universal basic income provides no incentive to work more hours. Providing a UBI to all those eligible (poor and rich) under Mr. Yang’s plan merely increases the overall cost of the program.
