I propose that the growing opinion of America’s decreasing quality of life is due to the degeneration of moral and family values. Religion is gradually being replaced with secular beliefs. If you don’t believe in life after death dependent on abiding by God’s rules then there is incentive to live for the day regardless of the impact to others.

The family is a critical basic element of society. It is the unit of humanity where a child first experiences love of and from others. There are too many children in America who are deprived of frequent access to both parents. Many grandparents and nannies are raising children so parents can work, attend school, receive drug rehab, serve a prison sentence, or travel. Single parent families are common. Some children don’t even know their father. How can family values be experienced and learned in a dysfunctional family?
