I think there is a distinct difference in effectiveness for personal social media accounts and those dedicated to a specific cause. Personal accounts for young people seem to be more for recognition than for advocacy. The number of followers or friends makes a young person feel popular and builds self esteem. The more volatile a post is the more likely it will be reposted increasing notoriety. Also, complaining has much less risk of criticism than proposing a solution for an injustice.
