In the global market U.S. max profit corporations can’t compete with imported products manufactured by employees with low pay and no benefits. Until the benefits of employees increase to be comparable to the decreasing benefits of U.S. employees Americans will purchase the cheaper imported products. Tariffs on imported products increase their consumer cost making comparable U.S. products more competitive. Currently most Americans seem to prefer to pay cheaper prices and subsidize low pay workers than “buy American” and pay more.

Benefit corporations typically pay better employee benefits by reducing profit as do employee owned companies and worker cooperatives. I advocate for the federal government taxing benefit corporations at a lower rate than S and C corporations. I encourage workers to join unions or form their own to negotiate for better benefits.

Workers such as software developers whose jobs are being taken by immigrant workers should contact their elected representatives and request quotas be reduced.
