In the United States “conservative” and “liberal” are no longer legitimate political terms. Those who promote a compact federal gov’t and the rights of states and the people should be referred to as constitutionalists or federalists. Unfortunately, the majority of elected Republicans at the federal level no longer qualify. Those who promote government influence over all aspects of an individual’s life should be referred to as progressives of which most Democrats are fully qualified.
