It's rather pathetic that the citizens of certain states have to rely on Congress to pass legislation to gain and preserve voting rights that are guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution which is the supreme law of the land. I suppose it's because those who are being suppressed have little or no influence over those who are elected to represent them.
Unfortunately, the majority party in a legislature will act to maintain its dominance. The citizens of the state should pressure their legislators to honor their oath to support the Constitution. Forming a grassroots group with a specific objective is often effective - especially when the group gets support from independents, third parties and the legislature minority party.
Georgia Secretary of State, Brad Raffensperger wants to eliminate no-excuse absentee voting and requested the Georgia legislature to do so. He claims it's no longer necessary but I suspect it's because more Democrats than Republicans voted by absentee ballot in the 2020 election. This is unacceptable and fairelectionadvocates.org will establish a crusade to prevent the elimination of no excuse absentee ballot requests.
