"Lastly, we could move to a more direct democracy where 1 vote per person holds the same weight. It may not be what the founding fathers intended, but we also cannot be held hostage by men who existed over 200 years ago in an era where literacy was barely above 50%. The founding fathers even gave us the tools to reform our government; this is a sign that they knew the constitutions and our laws would have flaws over time."

The founding fathers where intelligent and well educated. They knew that democracy results in tyranny of the minority by the majority followed by revolt and anarchy. Historically, true democracies always fail and dictatorship is welcomed to reestablish order. Literacy today may be more widespread than 200 years ago but knowledge of civics is not. Many citizens today have difficulty recalling the three branches of our government let alone correctly answering the questions in the Elementary Catechism on the Constitution of the United States which was distributed to elementary schools in the early 1800s.
