“So why are Americans so distrustful of one another? Well, we can blame the rich for that.”

Many of the rich have accumulated wealth due to profit priority corporations. I suspect the social trust index would be high for benefit corporations and worker cooperatives that replace profit motivation with humanitarian and environmental objectives.

Americans also distrust politicians at multiple levels of government. Most of elected politicians seem to be more focused on advancing themselves or their political party than on representing the best interests of their constituents and the country.

“After all, we are much more likely to work together for the common good if we actually believe we share anything in common.”

One thing the Founding Fathers had in common was the strong desire to obtain and retain liberty. I suggest we focus on that.
