"Publius: Thank you for being a faithful reader. However, I am far from gaining any serious traction. My last four TDG articles got 7, 16, 16, and 17 views. This article is sitting at 39--and there are few more days before it goes stale. I am estimating about 75. Why this article gets four times my usual average, I cannot say why.
I rechecked my following list: you are on this list. But I have not seen an article of yours for ages. I could say that this is more evidence that the Medium algorithms are giving many of us a less than a fair shake in showing up in the feeds. But it seems you have published very little in the last year."
Unfortunately, Medium is not a non-profit educational corporation. It is motivated by profit which is increased when paying membership increases. I am not a paying member to preserve my anonymity. I don't write for profit, but to inform and persuade others. I can publish as many articles as I want but am limited to reading only 5 per month. Writers like umair haque have taken the approach that the more sensational or controversial their writing, the more people will be attracted to read such nonsense. And Medium seems to encourage same. If it weren't for the following function and related notifications, I would not be aware of articles I want to read. My articles are usually so low on the Medium priority list that I would not be able to find them except by using the search function.
