"Term limits for elected officials are often sold as some sort of cure-all for all of the myriad flaws in our political system."

In my opinion, the only valid justification for term limits is the advantage an incumbent has over a challenger. This is especially valid in today's environment when there is meddling in state elections by out of state individuals, PACs, and partisan national committees. There are proposed campaign financial restrictions that may reduce out of state influence. However, what may be more effective is to eliminate winner take all single member districts with large, multi-member districts filled by proportional representation.
