“Experts estimate that if the world makes the changes necessary to meet the emissions goals of the Paris climate accord, at least 82% of global coal reserves, 49% of global gas reserves, and 33% of global oil reserves will have to go unused the next 30 years.”

Those resources will be needed to continue the aviation industry, the shipping industry and the space programs while alternative forms of “green” locomotion are discovered, developed and implemented. High speed electric trains may be a suitable replacement for airplanes on land but not for crossing oceans. Nuclear powered ships to transport people and cargo represent a security threat as well as a waste disposal problem. I guess we could always revert to sail power or just eliminate global commerce and travel.
